A great photo

[Originally at kwharbaugh.blogspot.com, Jun 10, 2004; moved on 2015-03-15.]

(As it shows a full-body shot of a woman,
to see it you must click here.)

Isn’t that a great photo?
What a lovely woman.
Look at the radiant, wholesome smile,
one showing nothing but happiness, delight, and contentment,
looking you straight in the eye
without the slightest hint of modesty, concern, or anxiety,
when she of course knew full well that
the photo would be also displaying in the most prominent possible way
her most private body parts.
And aren’t those truly lovely?
How sad some people consider them ugly.
How can they be so negative?
(What in my opinion is true, though,
is that views of the female genitilia should be restricted to
those 13 or older.
I really don’t think they are appropriate for pre-teenagers.)

For those who think presenting those parts to the general public
is exploiting or objectifying her,
I would remind you of Judy Chicago’s “Dinner Party,”
and the many Georgia O’Keefe oils
featuring images clearly intended to represent the vulva,
and, encompassing all of the above,
The Vulva Museum.

(But what would Sarah Greenough say?)
